Yay! Hair Fair 2014 is on it’s way!!! I am so excited, 2 weeks of yummy brand new styles from the grids most amazing designers…….I get such a warm and mushy feeling when Hair Fair is near! I am wearing my favorite hair of all, this is Nanda from Mina and she is the softest side braid I own. Whenever I wear this style I turn into a romantic, and what’s not more romantic than a summer night? This is my first entry into the Official Hair Fair Photo Contest………..but I will let you read on 🙂

We are about to begin the Official Hair Fair Photo Contest for Hair Fair 2014. The contest starts on the 9th of June and ends on the 23rd of June. You can upload up to 8 entries. Each and every store listed below is awarding prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners (that is a huge prize pool!) so tell all your friends, start taking wonderful pictures and show us how you can best show off your hair.

Theme:

This years theme is *Music*. Be as creative as you like, feel free to include other people in your shots.

This years contest will run from the 9th – 23rd of June 2014

*No Nudity or sexually suggestive images, this is a charity event to raise money for Children. Naked/revealing photos that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted. The committee’s say on this is final.

Be creative, but remember we are looking for pictures that focus on the hair and you.

New Photos Only

Photos submitted to this pool must be new photos. Photos older than the start of the contest will not qualify. Photos used for other contests, memes, blog posts or promotions will not be accepted — if they are accepted into the pool but we find out that they are/were used for something else they will be removed. If you want to blog your entry, that is allowed — as long as it is a blog post explaining that it is your entry into the  Hair Fair 2014 Photo Contest

Editing

Feel free to enhance your shot in the photo editing software of choice. As you do, please remove any vendors or store logos that may be in the image. Just remember this isn’t an advertisement but a tribute to hair that you love. Also be aware that we wont be judging your photos on how little or much you know of PS or GIMP, rather the feel of the picture and the capture itself. Don’t get too carried away, though; we want to be able see the hair!

Only backgrounds from Second Life, or created in photoshop or an editing program are allowed. No RL images to be used in or as your photos, such as morphing or locations.

 Text

Because of this years theme being “Music” you may use text on your images if you wish to. The text can only be lyrics to a song – in part or whole, and NO Sexually Explicit, Degrading, Racist or Hate Speech song lyrics allowed. This is a Charity Event for a Childrens’ Charity, so anything found to be unacceptable will not be approved.

While text is allowed, still remember that this is a photo contest, and we want to be able to see your Hair and Avatar clearly. Text should not overwhelm the image.

 Sizes

This year any size is acceptable. Please try and make sure that photos are larger than 512×512 or they will not look as good as you want them to, and may effect judging.

 Entering Photos

Photos may only be entered once, and only the person entering the photo is eligible to win. The same photo may not be entered by more than one person. You must have full ownership rights to the photo you are entering. If it was taken by someone else, then you must be allowed to use it in this manner. Check with the photographer before entering because any disputes of ownership of a photo will result in removal from the contest.

Entrants are limited to a total of 8 entries. Enter only your very best photos, as swapping out will not be allowed. We will be keeping track of who enters what, and swapping out your photos after submission will result in your disqualification. We want to make it fair to everyone.

Entry Descriptions (Must Do)

In the description of each photo you enter, please include:
* Your Second Life avatar name (no display names, if your last name is Resident please include that
* Model/s
* Photographer
* Hair Style Name and Store (the store does not have to be in Hair Fair 2014)
* Inspiration Music Title (you can include a link to the song on YouTube or wherever if you like)

All photos must be entered by Midnight SLT on 23rd June, at that time uploads will be disabled.

Winners

Winners will be announced just prior to the start of Hair Fair with all winners receiving a special VIP invitation to Hair Fair before it opens its doors to the public. Only one photo per participant can be selected for prizes.

Winning photos will also be displayed at Hair Fair.

 Additional Info

You may showcase past designers who have left Second Life, designers just starting out or even hair you or a friend made, but all hair must be second life hair, not hand drawn or RL sourcing – you may highlight or edit the hair to not cut into your body etc, but the hair must be Second Life hair creations.

All photos will be moderated before being approved into the group pool. Please be patient as we are all on different time zones, but the pool will be checked daily. If your photo does not appear after 24 hours, please check that all the rules have been followed. Thank you.

The judges decisions are final.

Prizes cannot be exchanged, negotiated or sent to avatars other than the winners.

My 2013 Hair Fair Picks

Hi there! I did a post like this for Hair Fair 2012 and I found it really helped me decide on which style to choose from. I remember staying up all night after cruising around the Hair Fair and cramming like I would have back in college lol. This year there was not time to do it earlier……but I have been working on this for a few days now. These are my picks for the 2013 Hair Fair, of course I can always add to this post as well…………just in case I do not have enough hair yes?! 😉

Some of these styles are tried and true designers that I love, some are new to me as well. I have eleven sets in all and ten styles per set……….that is a lot of hair I know, but I am just a tad obsessed……..maybe!? hehe Since the beginning of my sl I have had such a love for all the pretty hairstyles. This has quietly become my passion, ok maybe not so quietly when I post like this.

All in all………….the Hair Fair is my favorite event of the year and I wait eagerly for it’s arrival. I am so happy to have been included in this fabulous event for the last two seasons, and am thankful for being chosen to do so. Hair is such an important asset in how we look at ourselves, in real life as well as second life. But here we are very much fashion oriented and need different styles for different outfits, and Hair Fair is a one stop shop for all the amazing designers to show off their talent.

Now of course the most important aspect of the Hair Fair is that every sale gives a portion of the money collected to Wigs for Kids, I think this is such a wonderful charity. We help children through very hard times and sickness……….there is no better reason than this to shop like crazy. I may buy a lot of hair, but for this amazing charity anything goes.

I will have a cut in this post this year…….so if you are looking for more…………..check that cut. I am showing all these beautiful locks so you can see exactly how these styles will look inworld. I tend to sit up on my platform and commiserate with all my loot (inserts wicked little laugh here), so this is a way to show it all off at once what might take me a few weeks to blog.
